 宗旨
    YOD Gallery本次展示的是,現在菲律賓相當受到注目的藝術家馬汀侯那桑(b1976, Philippines)在日本的首次個展「呼喚石」,侯那桑利用心理學的觀點創作以臉為焦點的半抽象肖像畫。他的作品透過媒材和畫布所呈現的人臉,構成作品中重要的元素。觀看作品過程中觀者所接收到的圖像,進而去質疑當中的倫理観、精神性、存在等議題。

    2016年6月、侯那桑作為YOD藝廊的駐村藝術家,和一家四口在寝屋川市度過一個月的時間。在這一個月中在異國生活的他對作品有怎麼樣的影響呢,藉由這個機會將會在畫廊展示其作品。

    藝術家創作論述

    抵達大阪寝屋川市昭栄町的時候,有很複雜的情感。同時也有一種回歸到純真的感覺。 不管是到哪一個國家最先感受到的是那個國家的地的質感,土地和在其上方的繁華構造,從街景和交通的模樣,可以大致的感受到一個地方系統的配置。還有當地人的性格,在大阪所遇到的在地人,不管是很有質感的上班族、和嬰兒一起出門的女性、還有很有生氣的老人們等。大家都騎著「媽媽車」,作為日常生活的交通工具(媽媽的腳踏車的意思)。身為一個外來者,對於這個國家花上幾代的時間去慢慢琢磨,所陳現出來的沉穩和洗鍊氣質背後的歷史感到驚訝。

    在這次居留期間,日本的友人帶我們到位於淀屋橋中心部的寺院,這邊是大阪相當熱鬧的街道。他在這邊度過一些安靜的時光,然後祈求成功。我思考了祈求這個概念,祈求多半是寺院或是和祭司等儀式有著密切關係。 因為自身的對事物的崇拜而塑成寺院,而很多人聚集而成的話就成為教會。 我相信祈禱是個人最具有價值的存在,大部分的場合人人都可以是寺廟,我們是自身最有價值的中心,去建築我們嚮往的生活。祈禱的對象是個人認可的中心也是禮讚的中心。

    本次所描繪的作品,在一般常見的崇拜之中構成我們的自我認可的其中一項暗喻。我的作品從破壞開始,從作品創作空間中所回收的畫布碎片,再加入作品之中成為下一件作品。這次也帶了一些碎片到寝屋川市,再加入在大阪購入的新素材去重新混合。新的畫布和舊的顏料利用刀子或剪刀裁剪開洞、撕破,將重新產生的碎片重疊揉皺成為新的拼貼,拼貼過程中接著無次序的上色,直到細部描繪開始,隨著描繪方式的變化人的模樣漸漸地透出畫面。

    對我們來說臉是最可以顯示內面感情的道具,這次的作品系列是自身和身邊最親近的臉作為創作素材的一部份,去傳達崇拜的親密性(誠實)我們的經驗。


    19:37正下橄欖山的時候,眾門徒因所見過的一切異能,都歡樂起來,大聲讚美神, 。 19:38 “說:奉主名來的王是應當稱頌的!在天上有和平;在至高之處有榮光。” 19:39眾人中有幾個法利賽人對耶穌說:夫子,責備你的門徒吧!。 ” 19:40耶穌說:我告訴你們,若是他們閉口不說,這些石頭必要呼叫起來。。 ”(路加福音19: 37-4 )


    展覽名稱「呼喚石」是以聖經中的路加福音為發想。 法利賽人要耶穌責備他的弟子的時候,耶穌回答世界上的萬物都是為了敬拜神明而被創造出來的。 本次所描繪的作品,是對於祈求崇拜的一種暗喻還有信仰行為所導向的自我認同。

 馬汀・侯那桑 簡歷

    Martin Honasan (b.1976, Quezon City, Philippines) is a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology and Communication Arts clusters). He worked as visual artist and art director in advertising (1999-2001), then as managing partner in his own design firm (2001-2004) prior to pursuing painting full-time. Honasan is a Philippine-based artist who works with acrylic and watercolor and has participated in various group shows and individual exhibitions since 2005 in the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Japan. He has also participated in various local and international art conventions such as Art Fair Philippines, Art in the Park, Bazaar Art Jakarta, and Manila Art. He has mounted nine solo exhibits since 2011, one of which was at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 2015. He is currently preparing for his 10th solo exhibit at the YOD Gallery in Osaka.
